Haven't tried downloading yet. I assume you download it to a typical music MP3 player? And how is the sound quality in comparison to CDs and MP3 cds? I don't have a laptop and my home pc uses dialup, so downloading would involve me actually going to the library, which would still be useful for books located somewhere else in the system.

Actually, I'd rather listen to CDs so we download to the laptop then burn to CDs. My daughter & son in law download to mp3 player and they have good sound as well.

I'm listening to the sequel of the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "The Girl who Played with Fire" and both are very good. They're not as good as all the hype would have you believe. But definitely a sound choice. Very good storytelling and character development.
Grandiego Thanks this. -
I've tried the "playalong" books and found the audio less clear. Plus you have to have batteries. I prefer CDs too but now that my library has cut services (no interlibrary holds) I may have to go with the MP3 option. Downloading, then burning CDs sounds like it might be a good idea if I get desperate.

I've listened to around 500 audiobooks and never ran into a computer generated narrator. Are they any good?

A lot of people like this audiobook. Got some good reviews. The writing was decent. Character developement was excellent. I smiled a couple times, but overall, it didn't work for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.

What do you like about it?

If you have a cp player that will play an mp3 disk it makes it much easier. You can fit an entire book on one CD. If you burn the book to regular CDs it will take 10-12 of them.
I just bought a $37 MP3 player made by sandisk. It accepts audible content, is rechargable on a usb port and holds a battery charge for 16 hours or so. I was using the MP3 player on my Garmin GPS until it died last week. This little unit has 4G 0f internal memory and has a slot for micro sd cards up to 16G. It also plays FLAC files. -
I have a walkman that plays mp3 with 16 gig memory that plugs into the audio jack on the radio.
I converted all of my books to mp 3 for size. -
I used to buy books on CD . I found that my local small town library loved it when I would donate them . They were so happy that they gave me a donation receipt for the retail price on the case! The first time my donation was over 1200.00
