Hi to all those who share my passion for trucking, l am a bit of a Newbie having only driven trucks these last 6 years after 35 years working in the mining and heavy manufacturing industries from one end of Australia to the other. l carted cars for a few years and now l am hauling Limestone around WA with my Mercedes Actross. The Merc is a real treat to drive but bloody complicated to fix so l am looking at building up an old Kenworth SAR from 1983.It is currently powered by a Detroit Series 60 DDEEC 3 running through an 18 speed Road Ranger, l would like an auto trans and l am after feedback on the Allison World transmission. Is this a good choice? Is the Fuller Auto Shift a better box and since l already have the Roadranger, am l half way there? Will the Detroit motor ECU talk to the Allison trans and Jake Brake? l have a gross weight of around 50 tons, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Don :)
