    Hello everyone, I have been reading trying to gain some knowledge on the best way to ship a car. I have read that Uship is probably not the route to take. Needing one moved from Wilmington, NC to Knoxville, IA. If someone can point me in the right direction and has any words of wisdom I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

    Not going to happen for that price, at least not if you want a quality carrier. $700 for 1,200 miles is only $.58 per mile, close but a little low for a POV outside of a regular car haul route (Wilmington is an ok start point but Iowa is dead). Most brokers or shipping companies that move POV (personal owned vehicles) will charge you somewhere in the $1 per mile range because the good carriers that haul these want at least $.75 per mile, I know I won't touch a POV for less, generally don't get involved in them because of the hassle factor.

    Before we can recommend a shipping company we need to know a few more specifics;
    1) What is it?
    2) Does it run?
    3) What is the pickup and delivery window?
    4) Do you want door to door service from a residential address or would you take it to a central terminal or large parking lot on your own (this makes it easier on the carrier and sometimes cheaper)?

    There is a 76 Bronco on Central now paying $550/450 cod Wilmington - Pershing, IA.
    Mercury Auto Transport(South Florida Brokerage). Pershing is only a few miles from Knoxville.
    Maybe they posted your quote?

    It is a 1976 Bronco and is running, it can be picked up on the 7th or later, It would probably be door to door. LBZ that is probably for my delivery.

    I have found that brokers will post em without the client agreeing to it just to see if someone will take it at that price. Then they call the customer with a different price saying they have someone.

    In reality you should be prepared to pay about $1200 or upward. Wilmington, NC and Knoxville, IA are not busy traffic lanes. Who to call? Whoever you choose will probably have it out on Central D.

    I learned last year there is some small print in brokers quotes that allows them to post to Central as an actual order. Confirmed or not. If a carrier is interested, they will call the brokerage. You will receive a call from brokerage to pay the brokerage fee & arrange pick up.
