Pretty good idea especially for drivers that have arthritis or arm/shoulder issues. The security aspect of it sounds good, needing the app to unlock it. Guessing it has some type of bypass though incase the driver is in a area with no phone service?

They've been around for a long long time, just rediscovered.

I had a trailer with them and a straight truck that had them installed but the owner never completed the install to make them work.

My brother ran a belly dump I believe, a few years back, hauing raw potatoes from the field to a potato chip plant. Those trailers had air operated landing gear.... If I remember right.

Rideandrepair, Lonesome and JonJon78 Thank this.

Its not as uncommon as you think. Glass place i go to has them on all their box trucks. When i asked why the answer i got was it stabilizes the truck for loading and keeps the ### end even with the dock so they jolt and break less glass before its loaded and secured.

I've seen straight trucks with landing gear, and I was told, for docks with no dock plate, the rear can be raised to meet the height of the dock. Just sounds kind of funny, a straight truck with landing gear.

Makes sense. And yea that glass place was the first place i noticed it and i was very confised lol. Thats one job i have never done and the smallest rig i have ever used was a 213 wheel base truck on a 40 foot trailer.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Just looked at the video and, on the face, I can see it has very good benefits but I had some questions that's probably been thought out but not covered in the video.

On the face, it looks like it's generally for an O/O application. The reason I say that is, it comes with an app/bluetooth operating system.... with a code, to prevent other folks from "jacking" with it. Security application in reason.
So, what if a company, maybe a mega, wants to install these. Each trailer has a code? OK, so just make all landing gear one code. Well, thats gonna be a problem, because now, every landing gear in the yard is gonna activate with your device. So you hook up and retract your landing gear. Then every dropped trailer on the yard will now have it's landing gear retracted.
So if each trailer in the fleet has a different code...... I guess you could use the trailer number for the code but that's blatantly giving the thief the code.
Can you imagine someone being parked in the fuel island for lunch and someone .... even in the same company...... drops the landing gear for punishment? Drop it within 2" of the ground so it catches on something after pulling out of the fuel island?

OK, again, I understand, it's probably been thought out but it looks like this was designed pretty much for O/O situation. So, how's this gonna work for a company with multiple trailers? I mean, I'm just curious.

Likely the same way as my bluetooth eld. Each trailer has a unique ID and each driver is given a login name and password so there is a record of who last used it. If it has the brains for a bluetooth and connection for same. It has the brains to connect to the trucks wifi and call home to see if someone is authorized...

Or they use the pick a trailer option and use the last 6 of the trailers vin as the password. Sure easy access for a thief but the risk kf theft is still lower then that of normal unsecured gear. Not by a lot granted but a theif will need to actully think for a second and most will move on to the trailer with unsecured gear. As for ripping off landing gear.... i got nothing. Many steering wheel holders wouldnt know to do a walk around if their lives depended on it
