I'd love to try it... Allison must be real good transmissions. In the heavy duty pickup truck world everyone likes the Allison transmissions.

I guess with a ford super duty body with cummins engine and Allison transmission would be the ultimate truck

How did they catch you? You should have fought that in court since the stop was less than seven minutes and thirty seconds.

That' been covered. Gotta FLAG every change of duty status regardless of how long it is.

Since when? My CDL school instructor said otherwise.

I have operate manual for years and i do work with auto now, i wouldn't go back to manual full time maybe i am getting lazy....

I do drive manual once in a while and i really enjoy going back to my automatic.

Since DOT started cracking down on this stuff. If you even stop for 2 minutes at an outhouse/hole in the wall, etc.THEY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT!
Nothing can ruin a driver's good day like getting hit with a falsifying log book charge(which is a federal offense). And as the driver who went thru the Sheridan scalehouse can attest, they went thru the trouble of numbers crunching(calculating speeds, time and distance) so DOT isn't f****** around this stuff anymore.

You can only log 15 minute increments on paper so if you log a 2 minute stop as 15 you're falsifying your log. That's why the CDL instructor guy told us that if it's under 7 minutes 30 seconds to stay on the driving line.

The problem is that we're in an E-Log era now and with those you have to round up to the next increment.

your instructor should have told you that you can flag (in fact you are technically required to flag) a 7 minute stop without leaving the driving line.

My instructor told me to use that method to show that I did my load check after the first 50 miles. He probably didn't tell you about load checks either. That's something else they can get you for if they want.

Usually how forgiving are companies about ones ability to learn the art of shifting in a timely manner? I had no problem learning to up-shift, but downshifting I had issues. I liked driving a manual more except for the downshifting part. Now I know you're not "supposed" to float gears, but can you float gears downshifting?

Or since I am not very confident at all in my downshifting should I just look for companies that offer automatic trucks? I don't mind putting in the time to learn how to drive a manual well but I also don't know if companies cut you loose if you can't downshift right away.
