Again I'll let my bank account and the high 5 figures do the talking. Not sure you noticed but I started this thread and I'm a natural born American unlike Ted Cruz.

If you think only shifting gears make a truck driver than I feel bad for you.

Company drivers don't get to choose their rig which is why I'm asking for real world experienced instead of idiotic responses like yours.

OK pal. Not sure WTF Ted Cruz has to do with anything. And the 5 figure bank account comment was equally idiotic.

You're apparently a new driver if you need an auto to "concentrate on your surroundings". I would think you'd want to get practice shifting until it was automatic for you.

My response was real world. You are a new driver and you "could care less about shifting gears"? Seriously?

Folks that get into trucking as a last resort don't last. They take short cuts and They could care less about mastering the skills. They are imposters and a disgrace to my profession. I don't expect you to understand. But that's only my idiotic opinion.

So what happens when you gernade a diff or snap a driveshaft because you tried relocating the dock with your trailer? Feathering the clutch a little bit in a tight spot or when backing up to a dock isn't going to burn it out if you know what you're doing. Double clutching each shift causes more wear than a little bit of feathering. And double clutching is how most transmission manufacturers recommend shifting.

I don't know how 5 years is me but your entitled to your own opinion.
Look at your last post to me and figure it out bud. Let me help you.

"I suppose now it's OK to come to America without learning English?".

You said that so I retorted with facts.

As far as disgrace goes that's your perception. I truck for a living, receive safety bonuses and am always on time. If you cant get over AMT's too bad for you. Have a good life bud and be safe.

Never hit a dock hard in my 5 years so far with a manual or AMT. I talked to a couple mechanics (company and private) and they always say don't ride or feather the clutch if you don't have too. Every situation is different. I would think if your always feathering the clutch every time you dock then that has to add up I'm wear and tear.

Definitely not and neither are you. You just like to try and disrespect others. We are both truckers with opinions is all. Very different opinions.

    Ahh I see.

That was comparing people that WANT to get into trucking with an auto to people that want to get into America without learning English (i.e. Shortcuts, half measures etc)

I agree. I will only feather it for short durations, usually only to get around very tight spots when backing up (like trying to navigate around a car or building without hitting it with the front end). Once I'm in the clear, hammer down.
