I'm far from old school but I'm a firm believer in the K.I.S.S. approach. Keep #### simple and to the point. I take comfort in knowing I can patch up something mechanical and get it home 9/10 times with a roll of duct tape and some chicken wire.

I think it will happen but it will be a gradual process and start with the big fleets, it gives them much more control over the truck and also gives them some protection from gear grinders right out of school. Also the fact that many drivers now cannot drive a manual in a car let alone a truck and the forward progress of the AMT and I see it as inevitable. But as my dear departed father used to say that is what make a horse race.

I really enjoy Heinlein, talk about a guy ahead of his time.

Because you drive a Mack 12 speed manual and have 5 reverse ratios? Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!

I must admit, I have never had to shift gears backing up. Normally normal reverse does just fine. Other then that I use the clutch if needed to slow or gain pace. Frankly its second nature and I don't think about it, Im completely aware of my surroundings and never even think about the tranny.

Alot of the mega company's out there are disabling manual mode, as they want full control over the trucks. A O/O speced auto and a Mega company speced manual are two very different trucks.

How was it falsified???? There's more to your story.

NO one can tell you how long it should have taken you to get to that scale.
A 500 horse engine will get there faster then a 400 horse engine.
A 5,000 lb. load will get there faster then a 40,000 lb. load.
