This has been brought by wanna be truckers ad naseum over at the new trucker forum. I even stopped going there because I got sick of wanna bees and newbies that haven't got a clue telling me that autos are better than manuals.
If you can't learn to shift you aren't a truck driver. Period. If your brain is overloaded by shifting you aren't a truck driver. Period.
FACT: Autos are for trucking companies that want to hire non truckers. In my company, you will either shift a manual better than an auto shifts or you won't work here. It speaks volumes to a new drivers lack of commitment to his profession that he/she would even want a manual.
I suppose now it's OK to come to America without learning English?
How about we move this troll's 14th post to the newbie forum? Or is there a troll forum?

You said that autos are for trucking companies that want to hire non truckers. Sure sounds implied to me.striker Thanks this.

If you can drive safely and have pride in your work it doesn't matter whether it's manual or auto. That's all I have to say about that.
-
I'll say it,..
Companies buy autos because new drivers are chewing up the tranny brake, clutches and gear teeth.
Why?
Because they cant shift a manual properly. No one has taken the time to properly show them,.. or they are just too incompetent.
Hurstpigeon river trucking, rank, JPenn and 1 other person Thank this. -
. If that were true companies like Swift and Werner would be all automatic.
-
It's not automatics that I hate. Its the reason why they are so prevalent now. Auto's them selves are fine and each there own on what they want to drive. The problem with the prevalence of auto's is it's starting to let even less skilled drivers strait out on the road. If these drivers cant grasp the SIMPLE concept of shifting a transmission do we really want these guys in charge of a 80k missile ?
I not insulting any guy that has moved to a auto, each there own. What I am insulting is the complete lack of common sense and general ability that is being breed into the industrystriker, ryan7659, 1johnb and 1 other person Thank this. -
They are moving to that, Knight plans on it by 2017 and Swift and England have toted the same thing. All mega's are moving toward a auto fleet. From a corp perspective its a smart idea. Get the idiots to quit chewing up your trannys and dumb down the intel level a little more.
-
It's been a movement in other industries as well...take the craft out of the trade, automate or dumb down as much as possible, and...PROFIT.
Canned Spam and Fajo Thank this.
