Why would you ever trust a computer to run a transmission when you can opt for an 18sp manual? If I need a clutch I can drop and replace in a day in my shop. Can’t do that with computer stuff. Look where it’s gotten us with motors and emissions bs. Nuff said.
Automatic or manual?

I really am cured of automated transmissions.MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
I'm not about to start a new thread.
I've now driven 3 automated trans trucks that are much improved from Sunfish , the Columbia with Mercedes/ Eaton Ultra and the company's now long gone 13 speed Eaton automateds. Those were Series 60 Cascadias, vintage 2009.
International daycab LT with A26 and 12 speed. Not impressed with that one, couldn't get much power to the road on hills. Wouldn't force a downshift. Only drove it just over 300 miles loaded both ways. Otherwise, it sat in the yard with no one driving it.
Returned to lease company about 90 miles, a KW T880 ten speed Ultra plus + with Cummins set up to haul heavy, it was ok outside of overtaking someone, cruise control automatically slowed until you could pass.
Last one, which I drove more, was almost new, International LT with sleeper, Cummins with 12 speed automated. That one would downshift and would also back up even uphill with a load with no throttle applied, almost like idling back with a manual.
Other than the lane departure warning feature and overtaking vehicles causing abrupt slowing, it was by far the best of any I've driven.
Ten speed manuals, we've had no problem other than a few clutches.
Current truck has just over 280K, and the LED display containg the odometer and other Information just died. Can get the mileage off the ELD but have to make sure its being recorded correctly.
Always something.kemosabi49 Thanks this.
