Eaton Auto Shift: Truck went in the shop last nite. issues:
a), hard brake & prolonged period of time before truck will find gear.
b), parked on a dock, truck off, go to start, prolonged period of time before transmission finds gear., (intermittent issue, turn truck off & restart issue goes away).
c), at times truck is a no start, transmission not registering its in neutral (I.e. truck must be started by jumping @ starter/solenoid. (truck uses ultra capacitor not batteries to start).
annoyed, last year transmission was replaced with a remanufactured unit. The peripheral components were cannibalized from old tranny. (The old components had previously been "ALL" replaced within past 2 years.)
I believe, the issue is a frigging ground wire...frigging small peripheral issue. not one frigging direct component to the Eat Fuller Auto Shift...crap. We'll post when issue is worked thru...nice job FreightShaker

Same communication error,2015 kw 680.
Dealer wanted to replace wiring harness, company replaced brains(black box)..from Qualcom unit..truck running terrific now.Jerry12 Thanks this. -
Eaton Auto Shift Transmission Issue: replaced all batteries, (been in truck since 2010). At this time, truck is working correctly. Did not take truck to the dealer for repairs.gerardo1961 Thanks this. -
Problem was not corrected; about 36 hours later the problem returned:
a), hard stop...prolonged period before transmission finds gear,
b), (truck running hot after extended hours of use) turn truck off, while sitting on a dock,
restart truck, prolonged period before transmission finds gear.
c), intermittently, truck no start, dashboard transmission LED display shows Neutral but
computer not registering Neutral...i.e. requires a pair of plyers @ starter/solenoid to start
truck.
Fix:
a), replaced the inertia brake. ($1,600.00)...(truck has upper mileage= 1,065,510 miles)
b), added extra ground wire: transmission-chassis.
Truck shifts into first gear, (when hot) like a Manual transmission...crisp.
(nice to get something right...never took to dealer...dealer still gets the: Humph!)Last edited: Oct 15, 2015
