Are these standard on automatic trucks these days? At CDL school we had older 10-speed trucks and did a lot of brake checking and look at the trailer. Just curious if SNI uses them? I know they have some autos in their fleet.

They are standard on all trucks. The transmission has nothing to do with the brakes.
You still need to check your brakes ensure the slack adjusters are working properly.SingingWolf, KillingTime and UsualSuspect Thank this. -
I would still check brakes but the State CDL manual says automatic slack adjusters should not be done manually and only be done by trained personnel (if they needed adjusting) and manual adjusters can be adjusted when necessary by the trucker. Wasn't sure if auto adjusters were a standard thing these days on all trucks? or do some of the newer ones still use manual adjusters? does that make sense?

I haven't seen a manual slack on a trailer since about 1994 personally.

Manual slacks on trucks haven't been common in probably 20+ years. Autos still need to be checked though. Only reason an auto slack will ever require adjustment is if it has failed.

Well I see other truckers or videos where they take that wrench and adjust the nut and hit the brake to listen?
