Until you get caught up in traffic, or are going down steep grades........

I think an automatic is a great way to get your experience personally, I did my first 3 months solo in an automatic.

Worst part in my opinion of the automatic is docking, no way to control your speed while docking without using the brakes which kills the air pressure. I cant tell you how many times while docking that I had to sit there and build up air pressure in the middle of docking.......... With the manual you can control your backing up with the clutch.

When I was going through the Smokey Mountains first solo trip in my automatic, I didn't have to worry about what gear I was in or anything of the sort. I just watched my speed..........

I was just giving my opinion, no need to be condescending.

Hey, I wish I had your knowledge and especially your experience. That being said, I am glad I dont think I am better then anyone else because of it.

Automatic transmissions: More and more trucks are getting them, get used to it.

I bet when GPS units first came out you thought that was funny too, because all the "real" truckers use only a Rand McNally Atlas right ?

I bet when qualcomms and cellphones came out, that was pretty noobish and funny also - because everyone knows "real" truckers use pay phones as communication.

I mean seriously, lets make fun of the new guys saying good things about automatics, because, ya know, "real" truckers would NEVER drive such a thing. Who cares if it makes the job easier, and who cares if it avoids a lot of accidents with new drivers on steep grades, and who cares if after driving in heavy traffic if my left leg doesnt feel like I just ran a marathon from using the clutch, it IS still just for idiot rookie losers right ?

You think you make yourself look great picking on me on the new driver forum, but read where I am posting: QUESTIONS FROM NEW DRIVERS

When I want to be insulted by super truckers I will post under that forum next time, or just try and park my truck at night at the TA....... :biggrin_25526:

I don't have to get used to anything hero with experience comes choices.....you'll learn that in time..

Maybe you have to work for companies who force automatics, elogs, and the rest of that crap on you I don't.....

keep smiling there sunshine and have a nice day.. :biggrin_25519:
