Hi , I hve an 09 prostar giving same problems. Hard shifting and F comes up on the dash and then it stuck In gear.
The X-Y shifter, the solenoid and the speed sensors for the X-Y shifter might need to be changed. These parts are only good for about 300,000 miles. Then they need to be swapped out.

Don't throw expensive parts at it. Have it diagnosed properly at a shop with Service ranger software.

How much does it cost to swap an auto for a manual transmission I’m looking at a 2014 prostar with a auto 457k miles on it also has 2.47 rear end and will be working in the oil fields thinking about just going with a freightliner instead with a 10 speed manual but has 60k more mile and cost 8k more rear ends are higher and the mid 3.5 range can’t remember exactly any advice is welcome lol

In the affected trucks, an internal component in the clutch assembly could fail, possibly resulting in unintended vehicle movement. The recall population was determined based on part number. Eaton Electronic Clutch Actuation (ECA) clutch part numbers 122002-35, 122003-42 are the OEM parts used in production. The aftermarket part numbers are 122002-35A and 122003-42A.

The largest of the recalls, from Paccar, includes about 25,343 Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks. Affected makes and models include:

    • 2018-2019 Kenworth C500
    • 2018-2019 Kenworth T270
    • 2018-2019 Kenworth T370
    • 2018-2019 Kenworth T440
    • 2018-2019 Kenworth T660
    • 2018-2019 Kenworth T680
    • 2018-2019 Kenworth T800
    • 2018-2019 Kenworth T880
    • 2018-2019 Kenworth W900
    • 2018-2019 Peterbilt 337
    • 2018-2019 Peterbilt 348
    • 2018-2019 Peterbilt 365
    • 2018-2019 Peterbilt 367
    • 2018-2019 Peterbilt 389

Code 71 is logged when X-Y shifter cannot pull the gear selector into neutral. Bad power supply to the trans, failed X-Y shifter or failed clutch can cause this. Bad power connections usually cause other codes. Most internal transmission parts are reliable. Weak link in all this is the clutch. You can try to disconnect your batteries for 1 minute and reconnect to allow the trans to reset. This does not clear the code, but it may allow it to gain neutral again.

Thank you, will try it. It is in neutral though, can drive and it goes into all gears up to 10th. That's where it sticks.

Wondering if the air leak I have may cause this, don't know where the leak is though.

From those codes I would say you have a bad X-Y shifter, but proper diag needs to be done.
