Did it take you a long time to remove the ABS from your truck?

striker Thanks this. -
WOWOWOWOW, One whole day in an automatic and that makes you an expert....I've got 13 yrs and 1.4 million miles with autoshifts and automatics, guess that makes e #### near the equivalent of an expert on string theory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory )
An autoshft is a manual controlled by a x/y shifter, for about $1,500 you can convert an autoshift to a manual. Considering Volvo/Mack had over 4 million miles real world exp. on their I-shift/M-drive push auto's before they released them to the rest of us, I think they had most of the bugs worked out.
And once again, after your one day of exp. you still have a lot to learn. Somehow I've manged to run autoshifts and automatics in the mountains, in the winter, and I'm still alive. Again, guess this must make me the equivalent of Stephen Hawking.
Ames Construction, Denver, Colo. has two Mack Titan's, one running a push button M-drive the other an autoshift, both strictly do OD/OS hauling. both run local, mountains, plains, etc. without problem. Only time I've seen them in the shop is for engine issues.

ABS is out in my truck, sometimes the light turns off but most of the time she stays on. Regardless, I've never actually had the ABS engage in a truck, my pickup truck doesn't have ABS either so I'm used to it and drive accordingly. It's a non issue with me as it never comes on so it's like it's not even there.

I had a coworker years ago take the phrase: "If you cant find em' ....grind em" to a whole nother' level. That poor truck never drove the same after that lol Couple years later when i went for my "A" i had to make up a problem with that truck... just so i could take it to penske and get a loaner to take my test in

actually, this morning I made $30 helping Swifty put chains on at a customer.

so now your admitting your intentionally driving a truck that is in violation of the FMCSA. ABS is and has been required on tractors for several years, I think you need to find a new place to play.

Try driving a dump truck in the winter up here and keeping your abs working all the time then get back to me. With the amount of salt they put on the roads here everything gets caked up and ABS lights going on and off in the winter is normal.
This is Canada, no FMCSA here and even though we get targeted by MTO sometimes (for ontario anyways) trucks don't get harassed half as much as they do south of the border. The Megacarrier phenomenon is much less prevalent here as well which also changes the game regarding DOT, inspections, BS laws etc.
Were not in the same world at all. I have the utmost respect for those of you who deal with all the BS regulations and money grabbing legislation, the BS from carriers regarding your records which makes or breaks you and anyone you work for can screw your life up on a whim without foundation or just cause. I know #### well I couldn't do it. Common sense goes a long way and at least up here we're still afforded some benefit of the doubt by our governing bodies, you can't legislate common sense.OldHasBeen Thanks this. -
Amen, I learned on an old ready mix truck that had a 5 speed with a 3 speed brown-lite. Enjoyed 4 X 4's, 5 by 4's. Also drove a 6 speed for a very short time, its terrible, drove 10 speeds, 13 over, never behind an automatic, but it sounds sicking, but the boxes are best. But it seems they're fading very fast, but so are real truck drivers.
