They are an endorsement my friend. They started making the manual/auto endorsement earlier this year. To be able to drive a manual you have to take your cdl test is a manual or you will be limited to auto only on your license.
I personally hate my auto. Every time I slam into a trailer hooking or into a dock because the #### clutch won't slip and engages in too high of an rpm making you rocket back. Bleh.
Automatic trucks??????

When I was with the red truck autoshifter company, one day at one of the terminals, they came over the PA, and asked for anyone that could drive a straight 10. There were two of us that answered!

My current truck is an autoshift. Prior to that, I've driven 10's, 18's and 13's and even some pain in the butt weird thing in a real old Mack.
Everyone needs to learn how to shift and run with a manual for a good bit of time. Every once in a while I jump in a friends truck and give the clutch and shifter a workout. I can float no problem but practice double-clutching.BigJohn54 Thanks this. -

I am in school, hubbie is out there, he drive automatic now but started on a manual. I am 54 and want to drive but dont think these old legs with vein surgury will let me, not whining just sayin.. Is there a stamp on license if you learn on auto and pass CDL test on auto??

I don't know enough to answer this accurately. I am guessing that it is not uniform and some states do it and some don't.
I'd call the state DMV office if it were important to me to know. Maybe someone from your home state can answer. -
