Nope not a salesman, just someone that drives an auto truck that weighs in at 68 Tonnes or 149000 pounds.

You will have to imagine that the truck does indeed know it's gear 99% of the time, unlike a driver that knows 'most' of the time.

But yes, lets agree to disagree.

550hp, it pulls OK, but could always be better.
I've been bogged in a few times, but that's in heavy mud.

So your happy and the truck reacts to you, I say all is right with the world! I have watched some autos get out of a red light....not pretty and down right humiliating for the driver. I have seen too many truck shift in the middle of the intersection.
Anyway no such thing as a bad truck if all you want to do is be in one!

I've driven 18, 13 and 10 speed manuals before I got my Pete with Autoshift.

From a stop the vast majority of drivers will be up shifting in the intersection (manual or auto). Mine's got a clutch pedal for starting and stopping, it's an Autoshift. You can manually button shift if you wish instead of full auto. Mine's got an Eaton 10 speed like every other Eaton 10 speed out there except there are servos doing the shifting.

If you don't want to run an auto, then don't. I just don't understand everybody bagging them. Guys should spend a few months running one before they start spouting how terrible they are.

Once again you show you're lack of experience and also knowledge. You may not like them, but they are up to 90% of the trucking jobs in the world today. They are in no way dangerous-or any more so than any other tranny. You can't just come here and blab some BS to people who have over 200,000 miles or more in them without some evidence or proof. Still would not be my 1st choice, but last one I drove paid over $2.65 mile and I loved it even when I hated it.

Let's agree that you are talking #### out of your ### and leave it at that. There are guys pulling road trains all over Australia w/Eaton and other auto shifts that would make you {and probably me} wet your pants. The truck doesn't always "know" it's gear. That's why you have the ability to override it any time you like. Learn about something before you start bad mouthing.

    Aussie Truckie Thanks this.
