Not at all, my buddy in MA just tested in an auto and same deal. Scary really. I'm all for government downsizing and less control, but since we're all on Federal Licenses anyways I believe the Feds should control them all the way and stop letting the states ignore the rules. Put us all on the same page. The next guy that tested in an auto with 78k in a manual that he can't stop will punish us all when people start telling us how unsafe all us truckers are. Same goes with the states that won't transfer an out of state CDL. The reciprocity is 100% working when it comes to giving us tickets or paying tolls, just don't move there because then you don't know what your doing anymore.
Exactly!!!!.......Why anyone would even consider learning in an automatic and not learning to shift is beyond me! The new generation of steering wheel holders......gives them more time to play on the phone while they have their flip flop wearing foot on the dash!... Sorry OP but you really need to learn to shift man!
Not sure about your license but I had one issued by the State of Florida and another one issued by the State of North Carolina... So much for States Rights eh? Anytime the Federal Government "takes over" something, I get a bit more concerned. I would much rather have 50 States testing out options or meeting the needs of their State... Now I do agree that in somethings "consistency " is good and less complicated but in the bigger picture ... Not so fond of Federalism. Just my two cents worth... Cheers Stay Safe, MD
Werner has both. First trainer was o/of with old Pete and 9 spd. 2nd trainer had Volvo, Cummins, 10 spd. Then got new ftl with dt12 auto. Got upgraded. First truck 12 ftl with way too many beat up student miles. After 10 breakdown requests in 2 months I fought like hell to get a truck with 150k or so. They would up putting me in a 16 kw with 28 k. Auto. Already bagged from the previous operator who was a "trainer". Once we got the bugs worked out, I've had 34kmiles trouble free operation. Minus the entire brake system just had an overhaul at 57k. Previous operator appears to have not used his brakes properly. The auto while sluggish, has been phenomenal. Not one hiccup like the old ones had. If they decide to put me back in a manual cause they need this one for a new driver, I can hand them the keys and hope in a manual. Makes you more versatile
Well, speaking only for myself, my "dream job" would include an auto... LOL ... So that company would need to buy at least one auto.
