True but the post was about prime going to automatics. Clearly you have some sort of resentment towards both prime and automatics. With that, you are degrading a company and another's way of life simply to make yourself seem superior to others. That isnt what the brotherhood is about. As long as the truck is clean,in good running condition the driver follows all laws and posted signs and makes his deliveries on time, then he or she is a professional. What make/model/engine or transmission that they have to get that done shouldn't matter.michaelg, darthanubis and Big Papaxx Thank this.

Here are my thoughts as I take my own learning into account my trainer my fm and discussions with my wife who is going to do the prime program in marchiah now.
I have learned on he 10 speed. I have a regular cdl without restrictions. Those in the future that go through a program will have a restriction on their license if the opt or if there is an option to choose.
There are some that can drive but have coordination issues or even health issues (I think of my military brethren who may have lost a limb but can still drive. How awesome for them to have the opportunity. does it somehow make them a lesser driver? I would have to say no. A good responsible safe and skilled driver isn't just able to move through gears. That is a function. Completely handling your rig is a skill. What functions you deploy are 100% up to you. The truly skilled professional drivers control the rig appointment cost and safety. I do not believe automatics have the ability to make an otherwise skilled professional less of a skilled professional nor an unskilled professional suddenly skilled/more skilled. It is still 100% about the driver. I am a greenhorn happy I don't have a restriction but I will make sure I am cost efficient safe on time and responsible. I am in control of all those things.AnotherObserver, darthanubis, FullMetalJacket and 4 others Thank this. -
You are exactly correct and it is why my very first line was that I have no problem with Automatics. I believe they will be an asset to the drivers and the carriers. I have no resentment towards Prime or any carrier. I was giving my opinion and asking if it was possible.. I was in no way saying anything against any driver or potential driver as I have nothing but the utmost respect for the people who made this industry and the people who have chosen to choose this as a profession. I sincerest APOLOGIES to you or anyone else that took what I wrote as an insult or an attack on them.. I have nothing but the utmost respect for every person who is doing everything and anything to take care of themselves and there families.. Nothing I posted was in anyway directed at Drivers or potential drivers.. If it was interpreted in that way I AM TRULY SORRY as it was not my intent..FullMetalJacket Thanks this.
