That is why I posted this, I have nearly no experience with Autoshifts.
-
yea but dont it overide the control at a certain rpm?
-
I drove a automatic but never in a tank....on flatbed or reefer its fine...but with moving liquid I would think it messes up the computer or something like that
-
Our tanks are 90% smooth bore. And the rest 3 compartment,And with 13sp, 10 sp and the auto and I really prefer this auto I'm in. Now I've not pulled any serious grades with it but id have now worries. The only surge that concerns me is side to side as in slowing down for cornering

O okay. ..I know it would be better in traffic. .. man surge like to dance in traffic. ..I just let the cars jump in front and keep a far following distance...wish i had a auto for traffic

So basically buying a truck with an Autoshift would not be uber detrimental. Just need to learn to do some things a little different, again.

You are in total control if you know how to drive and haven't just listened to the BS from those who have never driven one or learned the capabilities. Total manual control is right at your finger tips. They didn't just send drivers out to get killed on steep grades with no stopping power. Many fools don't have a clue and have driven onto steep downgrades and not been able to get into low enough gear. Same thing happens every day with manual.
The smoothbores I have pulled I would normally wind up in manual mode starting and stopping. Engine can over rev or fool computer and shift a couple of gears higher then what you want. That is normally in heavy DFW traffic with morons cutting you off and such. IN rural areas just leave it in auto and take time as you should always do with liquid. It's a different animal and if you just want to hot rod from light to light you are in wrong business. -
Love the autoshift....one less thing I have to do.

I hear ya...I just rather shift her myself then to have her do it for me....I dont trust auto with a tanker...even though I would love not to shift....its just a love hate thing lol
