I love my ultra shift when it's not misbehaving. Mechanic says I need a transmission controller. So much easier to drive though less fatiguing especially in traffic. If no mechanical or electronics issues it's a pleasure to drive.

:biggrin_25513:Stay away from a freightliner cascadia with an ultrashift.Ours had cooler lines rub together and dump the fluid causing total failure. Freightliner knows there is a problem (I have an e mail from a dealer stating so) and they refuse to back back their product. One of the vice presidents from Eaton told me on the phone that they are not happy with Freightliner because it makes Eaton look bad even though its not their fault. if you buy an ultrashift, make sure the cooler lines don't rub,. I leanrned the hard way to the tune of 12k and no revenue for 15 days and counting (team truck...avg 1k mi a day).

The company I drive for bought all new trucks with auto shifts and ultra's. ALL ARE POS JUNK!! They do not work with tankers. A very expensive lesson.
All our new trucks being bought now are all standard 10's and 13 speeds.
In my opinion unless your crippled a auto does not belong in a truck. If you can't shift a manuel tranny it means you can not control the truck.

That's kind of how I felt about autos. Shifting is fun and trucking wouldn't be the same if I didn't shift. Then I actually drove one. I was right, trucking is different in an auto. And now, I never want to drive a manual again.

    Gears Thanks this.
