I have used mine twice . The first time was over Snoqualmie Pass. They were AMAZING! The pass was closed right behind us. As long as you go slow, they are great! The second time was just to get unstuck at the Iowa 80.

I would not use the socks.

Ive carried ice chain and only when stuck would i get them out. I have managed to run the west with one eye on the storms approaching from the pacific so I do not get trapped in a chain zone. Generally if you need chains on a big rig you are in it too deep. Ive done deep barefoot many times. However today's trucks get stuck in ankle deep snow. So I would not trust them as I have done int he past with old iron that were fantastic in deep stuff or ice.

Bottom line, If you can walk on that without falling down that truck can do too. Just go slow.

I have used mine 1 time in the gorge in Oregon. I didn’t think they were needed but chain law was up for about 10 miles. Easy to put on and take off.

I did use them in the yard one time to get my truck into the shop because of ice.

I don’t go that way often but I am compliant at the weight of a couple pairs of jeans.

I have never used iron chains in my career of 25 years.

So these are a bit pricey but fit my program perfectly.
