Btw I just started in May ...been car hauler last 7 years ...still lot to learn and shave some roughs

I set a rate goal and aim to hit it.... ain't ever been $2 a mile. If you look for 2 bucks a mile... you'll indeed find it. Try looking for $4. It's out there every day on legal freight. Aim high so if you fall a little short your still doing good. Know the market your in and find ways to set yourself apart from the others, then tell TQL they can keep they're 2 buck a mile s###

I do sometimes their loads even for 2.xx per mile ( if I got one way 4$ per mile I don't mind 2$ back haul - average still ok for me ), but I look at the whole pic calculated at the end of the week ... I prefer to take 2.xx load instead of sitting and guessing if better load pop up ...just me

I am see a lot of $3500 gross per week is ####.
I also see some saying they do $5500-6500 or more GROSS per week.
To me gross doesn't matter. It's the net that counts.
So to the people me saying $3500 gross is ####. If you are grossing $5500 what is your appx net? -
Net is way more important: op said he’s netting 1000-1200 a week. THAT ain’t enough imo. You can make that as a company hand and have paid time off and health insurance. Owning the company you have to make more money to offset those things. -
unless you drove only 500 miles that week and another 5 days you was relaxing home knowing that your other business behind making you ton of money and you do trucking for pure pleasure

Curious if you're pulling dry van or something else? I do better than $2 usually but not as good as 4, dry van.KB3MMX and fordconvert Thank this.

I did $3500 gross this week, drove around 1000 miles all in and only worked three days. Am I missing something? Dry van. And I was pissed! Someone is out here poaching freight, hauling the stuff for free. Grrrrrrrr!
fordconvert Thanks this. -
if you’d rather take the cheap rate than work any harder at landing a good load.....what do you expect ? How can you expect to haul good freight if you book cheap junk loads? Demand more if you believe your worth it, otherwise carry on
