If at a shipper or reciever. $14.25/hour after 2 hours until they finish loading or unloading. I have had a plant shut down for the night at 5PM-8AM and I got paid hourly all night and the next morning until I was unloaded.

Any time we sit more than 15 hours for any reason we go on the clock for 8 hours, off 10, paid 8, off 10...etc until we are rolling again.

a standard 10 hour layover pays $29.00+ motel if I cant return to work after 10 hours for dispatch reasons, time sensitive customers, highway shut down due to weather I get $21.01 hour after 10 off..If I am forced to layover 34 hours I get 24 hours pay at $21.01 hour + motel+ meals reinbursed If I am broke down and sent to motel I get 10 hours pay then 8 hours off then 10 hours paid and so on +motel and meal reinbursement..

I am soooo glad those days are over. I haven't ask for, qualified for, or sat long enough to even know what layover pay is. I haven't laid over waiting on a load in probably... 13 years. That's about right... I think 1998 or 1999 was the last time I ever laid over for lay over pay. Ever since I gave up doing things for big carriers.

It is really sad that freight planners can't figure out how to plan a load for a truck that is going to be unloaded on such and such a day, and have a load already booked. One carrier I worked for back in the early 90's didn't even classify a truck as ready until it was unloaded. Then they worked on booking a load. What a crock. I am booked 1-2 loads in advance all the time.

$87 for a layover with my company happens maybe once a week depending on delivery schedules. And sometimes getting a backhaul but for the most part no. 18 hrs down time is what it takes to get it. It's cash from our expense reports we file.
