Average miles to inframe?

I have been pricing one for mine, $400-500 just for the damper.

 

Please keep and inframe that truck, you will not be happier with a newer truck. I wished I would have kept my old FLD120 and rebuilt it. No payment and a fresh motor would be real nice. Not trying to tell you what to do though.

 

I had 1,298,00 on my 6NZ. Head gasket was leaking between 3 and 4. It had the 5232 code in it, that may have caused it. Wish I would have found this site sooner, I might still be running it with out an overhaul. My wife and I put bearings in it at 1,100,000. Rods were a little flaky on top half, but mains were good. I change oil between 15 and 20,000 miles. It had mobil 15w40 most of it's life, but switched to Carquest(Valvoline?) 15w40. I always watched temps in the mountains and it rarely went over 1700 RPM. One warning though.... we had them make us a copy of the ECM print out. While looking it over with my wife, we came across max vehicle speed, at which point I observed that we had bought the truck used.

 

They have upgraded head gaskets and head bolts for the mbe 4000 now.
Just have the bad head milled true, no need to replace with a reman head

 

My engine has the upgraded parts already and it's been about 500,000 miles since it received updated HG's, liners and rings.

At any rate, oil consumption is not noticeably different. 3 quarts at 12,000 miles. Right in line for 1 gal at 15,000 as always.

I've looked back and realized that the leak started after switching to 5W30 synthetic for the winter. There are lots of opinions either way about synthetic causing or promoting oil leaks when switching over from regular oil.

 

As long as it still has good oil pressure and dont use a gallon of oil a day i wouldnt open it up unless something happens, i know a lot of trucks still running with well over the 1,000,000 mile mark, but it al depends on how you treat it.

 

890k currently on my series 60 14l and still running strong

 

960k original miles on N14, only replaced two injectors and a overhead in the 13 years I've owned it.

 

1,506.000 on my 2006 ISX

 

758,000 on my factory reman 12.7 S60. Uses about 2 qt of oil in 20,000 miles. No engine repairs.
