The earnings that have been stated above seem pretty accurate. This also shows the problem that most drivers have not seen a pay increase in years. Most drivers were making the same about 10 + years ago. So in real earning potential there has been a steady decrease in driver pay. Although in safety meetings they like to claim they have not cut drivers pay.
How on earth did you get a payment of 200 bucks a week for the truck payment? and whats the 75 a week "security Deposit"? is that in leu of you putting a Deposit down up front?
Driver pay was cut about a year ago. They changed Canada and New York pay to once per each trip in and out, instead of once going in and once coming out. That's a pay cut. Period. I think there was some other things like that, but the actual numbers on the pay scale chart may not have moved.
The truck payment is $480 a week. The $200 a week is the loan to get the radiator repaired. There are three escrow accounts. There is a security deposit of $2000 on the truck, this is deducted weekly to the tune of $75.00 until the $2000 is reached. Next you are responsible for any damage to the trailer or cargo up to $1000, this is also funded through a deduction of $75.00 a week. Last is the maintenance escrow which is deducted at $.06 a dispatched mile. I hope this clears things up a bit.
I don't ever remember Roehl paying for going in and coming back out. It used to be a flat $25 per trip to Canada and now it's a flat $50.
it was said in a previous post that an average gross could be 600 to 800 a week. some weeks more and some weeks less. there is no way to give an accurate figure because there are just too many variables. ask 10 different drivers and youll get 10 different answers. fleets, how much home time you take, fm, truck reliability, insurance costs, weather, additude, work ethic etc etc. there are just to many factors. mygestic sp? on this roehl board seems to avg around 2400 miles a week based on the spreadsheets he has posted. do the math. at .30 cpm that would be $720. ive read drivers on here claiming a consistant 3000 miles a week and also drivers complaining about a constant 1800 miles per week. i was always told when you hear two sides the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. the middle of 1800 and 3000 is obviously 2400.
Ahh ok, i was wondering how in the world the truck note was 200 lol. my mistake, I knew about the other charges other then the Trl. fee one, thats about stupid. But it is what it is, I'm not looking at it from that aspect its more from the other "Perks" you get from being a L/O Its what works best for me on that. I switch over when i go back out after Christmas. With a $430 Note with $990.00 down and $9k buyout for a 07 Condo with 400k miles plus buying the extended warranty from Freightliner for $2k in sept.
If you bring your own truck these number change greatly. Your truck payment alone is nearly $2000 a month. You can get a really nice truck for that kind of money not a 5 year old frieght liner with 400K. I bought a two year old International and had a payment of $1200 a month and no silly balloon payment. The only escrow required was $1000. All the advantages are Roehls including they pay no employee taxes on you and you assume all 15% ssi taxes on yourself. I ran as a O/O with them for nearly a year and learned that the grass is much greener elsewhere. Since leaving Roehl and joining the "CHOICE" board at SNI I have been much happier. With Roehl for the most part you are no more than a glorified company driver. You can make no more than thier very low per mile pay plus fuel surcharge. I average getting over 1.48 per mile and hauling freight that is less than 20,000lbs which means less in fuel and more in my pocket. The load I leave out of Dallas tomorrow is paying 1.61 per mile and weighs 6900 lbs. It goes from Ennis Tx to Grantsville Ut. There were 4 other identical loads on our load board. The good thing is normally I have over 30 loads to choose fromand I determine where I go and when I come home. I have had only one paycheck under $1000 a week(I worked 2 days that week) and I normally stay out 7-10 days. Do yourself a favor and look at SNI they also will lease you a truck with no money down and thier truck offering ain't beat up old company trucks like Roehls. { I sound like a friggin recruiter} Good luck with what ever you choose. Preacherman call SNI and take a good look at them. I really think you would like it.
