I know nothing about Averitt, but your dad can get a 12volt adapter/converter for his CPAP off of Amazon for around $125. It plugs into the cigarette lighter plug and will power his CPAP through out the night. I assume he is running his truck at night, so he shouldn't cause any battery issues with it.

@MOBee - That's actually part of the issue. He can't run his truck overnight unless its something like below 18 degrees (not sure what the temp is for the other end of the spectrum) so most nights, its not running. -
I would still think with four batteries that he would not drain them enough with the inverter for his CPAP.

99.9 percent of Averitt's sleepers have APU's....so your dad's cpap machine is not a issue.!

Averitt does have pretty good benefits, medical, dental, vision. They also have profit sharing and 401k as well. Almost all of their trucks have the APU with a power inverter in the truck as well. The majority of the fleet run automatic transmissions in the trucks. You are home weekly, averaging 34-48 hours per week for home time. Paid holidays and vacation time. I don't know where he would be domiciled out of. We only have a few service centers and drop yards up that way, but I believe we have one around Madison. We have one near the Tootsie Roll plant in Chicago and another right next to O'hare. I am not sure where else we have our yards besides Milwaukee.

If the truck doesn't have an APU you have to bring up the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended ADAA.
Sleep apnea is a disability under the ADAA. It requires reasonable accommodations such as a way to power the cpap.
If the company won't make accommodations the EEOC enforces this.
There is a support group for truck drivers with sleep apnea Truckers for a Cause Awake that will help you with the EEOC if you want. -
I run into a lot of Averitt drivers in NC and SC; both OTR and LTL, and I can say about the ones Ive met is: Ive never heard one bad mouth the company, Ive never heard one complain about the job, and of all the mega carriers, they conduct themselves in a very professional manner. They have all been neat and well mannered. To me, this says alot about the company.

I am brand new to the trucking industry. After retiring from the US military, I chose to get my CDL and have now accepted to work for Averitt. A few reason I decided to go with them:
- The structure. There are no grey lines when it comes to this. A grooming and uniform policy, as well as uniformity in equipment tells me that this is for someone like me. Although candidly, I wish I could keep my neat and clean cut goatee.
- The benefits. Some of the best out there, but I am lucky enough that I don't need all of them thanks to uncle sam; But it's nice to have a supplemental if needed.
- The pay. Starting off at .37 cpm for a new driver such as myself is pretty good. Will I have to work for it, most definitely, but it's a higher start than most company drivers I done research on.
Some other reasons include: auto trans. trucks; dedicated training before being "set loose" on your own; they're 100+ service centers; and weekly home time.
I start my orientation with them the second week of June; Then 6 weeks of training after that. Now for me, I have an open mind about the home time. I know its not going to be set times every week. But after doing years worth of deployments, my wife and I are used to me being gone, so for us weekly home time is actually pretty good! I also chose Averitt for the diversity of loads they haul. Since I already have my Tanker/HAZMAT endorsements, and my TWIC card, I figure that will give me some extra experience in a port or two as well.
Expect the worse and hope for the best. -
