Mileage. I went from 36 cents to 56 cents. Averitt has made there drivers so brainwashed it is kinda sad. I would encourage any driver wanting to better themselves to do so. Afterall it is difficult not to find something better than averitt because they are simply not better than anybody else anyway
-
Your mileage is way off there bud we make more than 36 cents a mile. If you truly work for estes and enjoy it that's great... But really just because you had a crappy time here doesn't mean everyone else will. Nowhere on this forum has someone said Averitt is the best company in the world, We have simply made a point to say that we enjoy working for Averitt and that's the bottom line.
bigmikectn and Woopigsooie Thank this. -
Yep averitt talks a good game. They are truly a joke. Trust me i worked there. Honestly i trult think they use there truckload division as a tax write off for the rest of the company. Because they dont care if you get miles or not. It is like they dont want you to have any miles. Just a thought

OK LET ME TALK SLOWER SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND. YOU are SOMEWHAT CORRECT. MOST DEDICATED ACCOUNTS MAKE 36-37 CENTS. SHUTTLE OR LTL MAKES 47. WHICH BY THE WAY IS THE LOWEST IN THE INDUSTRY AS FAR AS TLT GOES. TRUCKLOAD MAKES 42.5. NOW WITH THAT BEIING SAID I EXPLAINED I WAS ON A DEDICATED ACCOUNT WHICH PAID 36 CENTS. SO ACTUALLY MY MIELAGE IS NOT WAY OFF. HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEM EXIST. AVERIIT COMES ACROSS LIKE THEY ARE THE BEST COMPANY ON THE PLANET. NOW YOU KNOW THIS IS SUCH A LOAD OF CRAP. AND BY THE WAY I DIDN'T HAVE A "crapy" time there. I JUST FINALLY GOT SMART.. WAKE UP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. AND BY THE WAY. YOU SAID EVERYBODY WONT HAVE A BAD TIME THERE. WELL YOU NEED TO READ SOME OF THE POSTS SOME OTHER DRIVERS HAVE QUOTED HERE. THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THING. CRAPY MILES AND CRAPY PAY. NOW YOU ARE PROBALY IN SHUTTLE. SO YOU PROBABLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM EVEN TALKING ABOUT.

I want to be up front with everyone who reads this reply. I was fired from Averitt for "safety reasons". I was angry for awhile but I have gotten over it and am with a great company. I was with Big Red for over 4 years and toward the end was ready to move on anyway. I had a great Boss, However the miles had gone away and I was doing more sitting than moving. I will drive night or day , rain or shine . I went where I was told to go, and was there when I was told to be. What I will never understand is why it took them so long to to let a driver know he would be sitting all day then give him a ld where he would have to drive at nite. Here it is in a nut shell 1) you deliver. No message from the company about your next ld. 2) you take a 10 hr brk the awake to find no ld or message. 3) you send one or maybe several messages asking whats up. 3) your day is over you get ready to hit the bunk. At the 23rd hr you get a ld, you have just enough time to get to a shipper, get loaded and make it to the consignee, where you will start the process again. You don't know when to sleep or not to so you are always wore out. I thought this was part of the job till I started to work with my present employer. I usually know what my next ld. is before I deliver the one I'm on. This is not a problem with the fleet managers, but the trip planners and above.

Wow I was thinking about going with them. They just called me to finish up on my processing. I applied with a temp service for a local company but the pay isn't all that great. I know most of those websites are a crock of dump. I was going with a dedicated run but I'm thinking twice about them now. Are the dedicated and regional runs getting screwed over like this?

TL is considered a stepping stone position, not a career and it's not always as bad as is made out here. Sure, sometimes it sucks, but not always. -
Okay thanks MustangGT for the info. I have worked for enough companies and most of the big ones are trash anyway. Just have to make it work for yourself. I guess I will just work this temp agency until they call me for orientation. I'm pretty sure they are no where near as bad as Andrews transport are CTL so I will see where it goes.
MUSTANGGT Thanks this.
