I'm looking into switching over to Averitt. I'm currently an OTR but I'm having to train new drivers to make any money. I love driving but I'm done with training. I really didn't want to be a company driver because I like the freedom of being an IC. Any advice from some more experienced drivers will be appreciated.

I'm in my seventh year with Averitt. I'm not going to sing their praises but it's not bad compared to some of the choices out there. The money is okay to good, depending on what you are doing. Depending on where you work out of, you could have the chance to move out of TL into a dedicated job or LTL position.
We also have trainers but there is no pressure to do it.
Also, I have honestly never missed a weekend. There have been plenty of short ones, but I always come through at least.Truckie83 Thanks this. -
I am scheduled for orientation next month and was wondering if they have an agility test during orientation? I asked the recruiter and she wasn't sure. Thanks!

I'm not even sure what that is and don't remember anything like that.
I do remember picking up the crate loaded with 80 lbs of weights. -
I had orientation last week and all I did was pick up a crate with 80lbs in it , turn walk 2 steps , set it on the ground, pick it up and set it back on the table.
The only other thing I did was bent over and pull on a chain and they measured how much you pulled . then squat and pull the chain with your knees -
I am a switcher at Nissan. I make more money and home everyday, I love it. It's hard on your knees, but you get adjusted. lol. Never again will go out on the road.

I wish you the best but never say never. I've never had a gravy job last forever and accounts come and go.chopper103in Thanks this.

Mustang Gt, your right, I am ready for the road, after Christmas vacation I'm going to TL. I really miss the road, the being out in the weather being a switcher is hard on my old body. lol. I'll see you out there soon. Merry Christmas! I hope all drivers have a safe holiday season, and get to wherever they want to be.
