The glory you see in ads usually apply to experienced drivers. Don't expect to make big bucks from the start. Mega companies train to fill seats and have low cost labor. That said you pretty much have to find the best of the worst to get through your training.

That said I would immediately cross CREngland, CRST and Werner off your list and go from there.

I was not the only 1 having these problems. They overemphasized the classroom work and neglected the hands on training. I could find u at LEAST 8 other people that were having the same problems as me. I had a grade point avg in the class that was nearly 100. So it's not like I'm a moron.

You know it,,like how many recruiters from these companies are on here ,,post once to bash another school to steer people into theirs..Thats what this thread sounds like..to many threads about CR England..Half are probably recruiters ,,like this one from Swift. Talk about a one hit wonder,,lol..

The "hands on" part comes with Phase 1, out on the road. The school just gets you your CDL. Consider Phase 1 as the road portion of your training, which it is.

I am a P1 trainer with CRE. My job is to pick up students from the school and teach them to drive as best I can in the short time they are on my truck. They get on my truck with as little as a half an hour behind the wheel, and by the time they are ready to upgrade to Phase 2, they are solo qualified (by CRE standards, not mine).

I've had mostly decent luck during my time here. My DM is awesome (got lucky there). I've made decent money up until the last month (freight has been slow). On my best week, I took home over $2500. On average, I would say I make about $1000 a week, after my truck payment, insurance, etc. But I rarely get home, I am tired all the time because I get very little sleep with a new student on my truck (between training, having to get up every time they have to stop somewhere, and just not trusting someone that new not to kill us both).

I'll be moving on to another company soon so I can get more home time and run solo. I am tired of being tired. The lease terms here suck. It'll also be nice to not have to put my life in the hands of a new guy every day. It will mean a bit of a pay cut, but it will be worth it.

CRE has been decent for me. But I went into it just wanting to get a year of experience while still being able to get the bills paid, then move on. I've been pretty lucky here, but I know that is the exception, not the rule.

Moreover, if you were a recruiter, you probably would be doing more than bashing England, you would probably be telling us how awesome x company is.

As someone how does alright at England, I have to say, the "otherside" is that it is a mediocre company that you can make okay money, have okay hometime, and start your career with...that being said why you wouldnt want start with swift, Schneider, tmc, or just about anyone else aside from cre really is beyond me.

Appreciate that info Condo, thanks. I was going to attend a school then find a company from there. From what I've been reading, Swift seems to be the better of the bunch for new drivers.

there is not enough money in this world for me to be a trainer.
I went thru the ECRE 9 years ago, my trainers went into the sleeper when i would take over driving.
A trainers job, is to SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, And watch how the new driver is doing. Don't go back in the sleeper and go to sleep.
Training trucks SHOULD NOT BE DISPATCH ON TEAM LOADS or ran like TEAM TRUCK.
You got some one who has no idea, what he is doing, and his trainer is sleeping.
    Something wrong with that.
