    greetings

have a run from LA to Morgantown WV, can take I15 to I70 but get sick of ups and downs in Utah and Denver, and would rather take I15 to I 44 to I 70 but company doesnt want to pay the tolls in OK, (even though i am sure they will save more in fuel verses all the mountains, and it is a few miles shorter also, but....) any suggestions on avoiding these tolls? thanks

Google Maps has an " Avoid Tolls " option.

Hwy 54 from Tucumcari Go to Emporia KS and big road from there on. it will add about an hour to your trip but scenery is nice, to me anyway. Don't speed thru Meade and wave if you see the local bear

You could go 40 to Tucumcari, NM and go up 54 to Kingdom City MO and get on 70.

You could get off on OK 66 at OKC. I believe and run it all the way to the Joplin Mo area.

Only one [or two] way to run from So Cal to WV and I-15 to I-70 'aint it. If your boss is that much of a tight ##### then you can still run along-side I-44 and avoid tolls from OKC to Joplin, MO (old route 66). It requires a very high-tech approach ... look at a map. Or better yet, you have a computer, use google maps and it'll show you alternate routes.

    I40 E to Nashville TN
    I65 N to Elizabethtown KY
    take Blugrass Pkwy East
    I64 E to Charleston WV
    I77 N to I79 N to Morgantown WV

adds 100 mi instead of going thru OK

The tolls end up being around $25. I'd rather pay that then lose fuel economy on hills and stop and go driving taking freeways through every town in OK.

Used to run the run 54 out of Tucumcari quite a bit to avoid the 44 when I worked for a company that wanted to avoid the tolls. Its a nice route and the towns are spread out far enough apart that you can roll pretty good. Just don't breakdown cause its a lot of single lane highway with little room on the shoulder

Honestly...if he's paying you hub miles...I'd go whichever way he wanted. But like above said, it's not worth the savings with all the extra miles you drive. Probably $30 max from OKC to Joplin MO, if that. $30=7.5 gals of fuel approx. So roughly 50 miles more and there goes your savings.

Tell him to get a PikePass and save that way:)
