I've got the receipts in my bag. Was thinking I only paid around 25 but could be 35. I never pulled off the tollway and went all the way across so it might have been cheaper? Idk. Either way, might try some of the alternatives on here one day if I've got time to check em out. Thanks!

OK66 from OKC to just outside Vinita then follow US69 north (need a truckstop, the Big Cabin Travel Plaza is just 4 miles south of the 66/69 split on US69 south) to US69A north into Kansas then east on US166 which will drop you at Exit 1 on I-44 in Joplin to be exact. It's doable if you're not in any kind of a hurry.

FYI the I-44 tolls are as follows:

    HE Bailey stateline to OKC

    $5.00, $5.50 and $3.75

    Turner and Will Rogers

    $16.50 each

Short stretch from US69 to Joplin

    $8.50

Usually went toward 60 and then 43 to 44.

I never considered that route. Is 43 and 60 a good road?

Yes, but it is slow compared to the Interstate. I had forgotten that I used the route GMAN mentioned which is only about 50 miles farther.

I have seen the DOT on the section of 66 between OKC and Sapulpa.

Fringe benefit is the missing of the boys at Joplin.

We run a lot of freight up.from El Paso to Centralia, MO and used to run 54 all the way from El.Paso.to Wichita. But then our company decided to route I10/20 to US277 to I44 to 35. The extra 100 miles and tolls in OK was cheaper than the NM weight distance tax.

Why should you work a hour or 2 longer to save the owner a little money?

    zmpart Thanks this.

I bet the owner wants the driver to just pay it out of their own pocket so not to deal with the extra running around to avoid the tolls. Go the way that is 100 miles more , 40 to 65 to 79, and burn 100 miles extra in fuel. Perhaps also run out of hours and have to reschedule a day later to unload because of it. Then the $33 will appear as money well spent. It is worth it to pay that toll road - not like some of the PA turnpike, which IMO is WAYYYYY too high.

zmpart and Arkansas Frost Thank this.

I've run 40E, 55N, 57N, then 70E before. About the same amount of time.

I don't see how that is possible. Google says from okc, ok to effingham, il along 44 and 70 is 599 miles, 8h53, and if you go 40, 55,57,70, it is 772 miles, 11h22....
