    gypsycowgirl......for 1 he is a trucker not a politician

Diplomacy...Diplomacy is the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of groups or states. It usually refers to international diplomacy, the conduct of international relationships through the intercession of professional diplomats with regard to issues of peace-making, trade, war, economics and culture. International treaties are usually negotiated by diplomats prior to endorsement by national politicians.

2nd You sound more like office personnel then a driver.

You know what they say walks like a duck talks like a duck.....

I also work for Marten and know it can be very trying at times.

Its a shame that instead of listening to a fellow driver that has obviously had difficulties with Marten you chose to belittle and insult him.

    Do you know this driver???

My guess is yes although I believe it is thought dispatch connections rather then driver acquaintance.

    This is a driver forum...

    Dispatcher go home!!!:biggrin_25523:

I have a question. Now with the exception that the bad thing's I hear about Marten are from guy's like him that can't hack it in a real truck driver's world (no pun intended) but what is the policy on bringing truck home? I live in Shreveport and they called me yesterday wanting me in class next week so I am seriously thinking about making the 3 hour trip to the yard in Irving, TX. for orentation. I just can't do the whole have to drop the truck off at the yard and being a flea on the grey dog every time I want to come home. Also do they watch your log book that hard where you have to log every single stop you make? I left Prime about a month ago because they worried more about the fuel milage their trucks got than anything so they kept cutting it back till I hit 58mph and I had enough but mostly everything else I liked really well there except home time kinda sucked. The only thing we had to log was drop/hook/load/unload/fuel and any mandatory DOT stop. Any bathroom breaks or anything we didn't have to log. I was just wondering if Marten is close to the same way.

Trying to find out what I can by Saturday before I hop on over that way and find out I may be making a bad choice. Of course, yes I understand it's a pro's and con's of what people say and going with a company is a gamble with a risk. So far I like what I've heard though and I'm like Gypsy, I'm greedy when it comes to miles and with Prime, I don't understand what was going on but I was starting to loose miles and my last week out I was just a little over 1,000 miles my last week so my quitting was spur of the moment but my dispatcher understood when I asked for a load back to the yard when he asked what for. So any and all info you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guy's and gal's!:biggrin_25520:

I know gypsycowgirl personally. She and I used to team when we drove for PAM transport. She still drives, but not for Marten anymore. Also, she doesn't come on this website very often. She's pretty busy either with her horses or earning a pretty #### good living with her current company.

As to your definition of diplomacy, see the second definition. Gypsy is also one of the brightest people I know, and has a very keen grasp on the English language.

    n.
    1. The art or practice of conducting international relations, as in negotiating alliances, treaties, and agreements.
    2. Tact and skill in dealing with people. See synonyms at tact.

If you're greedy with miles, you'll make it! Dispatch tend to run you hard so that is something you'll have to watch out for. ;)

No, don't have to log everything. Like bathroom breaks, etc unless its over 15 minutes.

Oh, we are allowed to bring our truck home with no problems.

Thanks for the 411 Pine. Sound's good but had a chat with the recruter again today and said they wanted to put me on a plane to Atlanta instead of Irving, TX. Asked her about the pay sense I actually left Prime with 10 months in my pocket said I would only be making .28 a mile with a 3 month raise. Forget how much she said it was. Tried to get me on a plane for class next week and she laughed when I told her I don't do air planes. Anywho, would anyone find that kind of pay worth the while? I need to start making money plus I'm itching to get back to work. Gotta call back tomorrow morning with my decision so I'm gonna sleep on it tonight and check back here first thing. Thanks guy's.

I didn't make 28 cpm until the after my first year with PAM, but that was back in '04. I would think that's a little low, but considering ya ain't quite got a year in and this economy being the way it is, I'd take the job and smile about it.

Ya know I was thinking the same thing but I was making .34cpm when I left Prime. That's why I was thinking it was a bit considering I started at .32cpm when I got my first truck and went solo. Guess it's what I'll have to do. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. :biggrin_2554:

The amount of pennies per mile don't mean a thing if the amount of miles per penny aren't there.

You could make 50 cents per mile, but if you only got 1500 miles per week you're not doing any better than a guy making 30 cpm running 3000/wk

Lol, yea that's how I've alway's looked at it. They either give you high pay with low miles or low miles with high pay. Either way they will get you one way or another. Ain't truckin' grand?! :biggrin_25522:
