You can get a bank account with a debit card, assuming you have the minimum amount to establish an account. I think the minimum is 50 bucks at most banks.

Comdata cards are something that alot of compines use so you can buy fuel for the truck and they also put your pay on them so you can write a comchek and cash it for free when you are buying fuel or you can use it like an atm card at some places but the fee's will kill you. The best thing is to get all of your money in one transaction that one transaction is free.

That doesn't work every time. That's why. ;)

Suppose I just need some cash. Do I now have to carry around some item for an undetermined amount of time?

Afterall, you said...Something I need. Usually anything I buy at Wal-Mart, will not fit in my pocket.

Besides, it's worth the $1.95 to avoid the lines and idiots.

I grab a Coke at Walmart and get the cash back through the self check out line. In and out fast (usually) and paying $1.25 for something I drink anyway is better than paying a $2 ATM fee and then the $2 fee my bank adds to it once it posts.
