Aha, I was not aware of that, is that a common occurrence?

Just because you are in the NE regional division does not mean you will be home all the time, you will run as needed, met plenty of the NE guys as far west as Denver. Prime is a OTR company and you go where the load takes you. That is unless you are assigned to one of the Walmart DC's and there is one in the NE. May wish to check on that

Just because that's what you like doesn't mean it's the norm and this guy has to do what you do.

Brush up on your company driver policies... Once you are A seat upgrade: Three weeks out is the minimum between hometime. With that said, you only get 3 days off earned in those three weeks. If you want to take off the max 4 days allowed you either run four weeks, or have run an extra week somewhere that you have that 4th day "on the books" to use.

for anyone wondering about during training, you don't accumulate days off as a PSD student (PSD are not employees). When you upgrade to Trainee (TNT) you are an employee and you do accumulate days off. The program requires you to do at least 2 weeks TNT training after PSD before getting your first hometime. That is why recruiters usually tell incoming PSD that it maybe 6-8 weeks for first hometime. Of course there are exceptions depending on fleet manager approval or your trainers hometime schedule is shorter than those two weeks of TNT.

Any trainer that keeps a trainee (who wants it) from hometime for either 2 weeks after PSD, or 8 weeks total from start of orientation is a scumbag.

if anyone wonders why you have to do 2 weeks TNT after PSD before hometime... It's safety and the training dept theory that you need to continue building your skills and confidence. They are of the theory that some skills will degrade while you are so new and away from the truck. I tend to agree, but from the trainer standpoint, I'm not your taxi home from Springfield after you just pass your test... and besides, you have no days accumulated to use for hometime.

Whether you run regional, dedicated or a Walmart DC, You can take your hometime after 3 weeks out.

Stopping by the house with a load, if the appointment schedule permits does not count as hometime.

I will not be a PSD going through their course, but as a brand new CDL holder with no experience.

What is this seat A, B thing? This has never come up during my conversation with the recruiter.

D-seat is the entry point for PSD students in CDL instruction... you aren't employees at this point. C-seat is where inexperienced CDL holders enter TnT training for 40,000 miles; $500 per week guaranteed as long as you are available for dispatch. B-seat is TnT with 30,000 miles for PSDs (10,000 mile credit for PSD) who have earned their CDLs, and C-seats are promoted here after a month. $600 guaranteed or 12-cpm... whichever is greater. A-seats are solo-qualified drivers... who may have their own trucks, be team drivers, solos, instructors or trainers. The mileage figures for advancement are approximate... and one may get the boost sooner or later depending on how they're doing.

This is the quick 'n dirty explanation. I'm sure the instructor/trainer bunch will be all over my case about this shortly...

IP, I'm kind of confused. I'll be coming in with my new CDL-A. Seth, my recruiter, told me I would earn $500 for my first four weeks of TNT and $600 a week after that while I finish TNT. Seth also stated I would earn home time while in TNT. Does any of this sound right? Also, can you define "available for dispatch"? If my trainer goes home will Prime put me up in a hotel? Thanks!
