I have a 2000 Pete 379 and a 2005 Timpte triple axle grain trailer. Im trying to wire it so I can raise and lower the tag axle on the trailer, from the cab. I have a toggle switch ready and a plug in the trailer. What wires do I need to run from toggle switch to the plug? Thank you!

If it's a lift axle already it's probably ran with an air switch on the trailer. Your going to need to install an electric solenoid valve back there in order to do it electrically from the cab. Or you can do it with air from the cab but then you have to run another air line and install a 3rd glad hand.

I never did find out which states have banned the use of lift axles, even after spending a half hour just skimming that 84 page pdf document back there a few posts ago. Sheez, I need to go exercise my eyes so they will focus right again.

I run a 48' flat with a 2-axle 10'1" spread. The front axle lifts by only the frame mounted air switch. I lift it empty and also when loaded up to around 30000lbs on deck. I have a load gauge for the rear axle which I use to keep the axle weight under 20000lbs. Is this illegal anywhere? I get a lot of funny looks, truckers telling me I forgot to lower my lift axle, and that one Mississippi DOT cop that pulled me over to see how much that truck weighed I was hauling. Been at it like this for almost two years with this new trailer, and no tickets yet. Sure does save on tolls, tires, and fuel.
