Not sure this is the right place to post this or not,,,moderator feel free to move to correct place.
Have been running around AZ this week and have noticed alot of trucks being stoped by LEO'S on interstates. Asked around and it seems that AZ in enforceing the DOT reflective tape on top of tractors mudflaps. Was told most get a warning (this will show up on CSA 2010 as a violation) and a few have gotten tickets that cost $200.00. Was given this information via CB from several diffrent drivers that have been stopped by AZ DOT.

While the "law" in Az. target trucks, some crazy can kill several people at a political meeting. It seems to me that we have our priorities mixed up. But then, it doesn't require too much work and far less danger to deal with truckers than deal with those who intend to inflict harm to others.

I can only imagine the lives saved by putting an end to the recent pandemic of unreflective mudflaps.

Look for the expansion to the national front in order to make sure the data reflects the entire country.

This will be necessary to make sure they get true data for the exact impact on the safety front. The costs to the participants will be a small factor in the entire plan.:biggrin_25525:

I'm not sure if anyone has seen the small light bars that bolt onto a mudflap hanger, and they hold 5, 2 inch round lights inside of them. I had these on my 04 W900L, each side had 5, 2 inch beehive LED lights, red of course. While undergoing an inspection at the scale house, I was given a warning for not having anything reflective. I argued that the LED lights were much brighter than reflective tape, and they are! You can clearly see them in daylight, no problem. 10 bright LED lights across the back of my mudflaps, and that can't replace reflective tape?

The problem is and always has been, government, and rules. The government makes the rules, and the government has never walked in the shoes that we make footsteps with.

I think the purpose of the tape is to make you visible in the event of an electrical problem where your lights no longer work.. :biggrin_25525:..

How bright are your LED lights when they are shut off and the truck is parked? The reflectors are required for the times when it's not all lit up...

The Dot across the country are going after trucks for minor stuff because they need the revenue. In 55 zones they are writing tickets for going 57. In cali I go no faster then 56 anymore. One guy got busted at the scales for having road salt on his front license plate. Two of our drivers got tickets for having there prepass transponder in the wrong place on there windshield, etc, etc. We all gotta keep our s### wired tight these days. :biggrin_25513: And to think we put up with this crap for such meager paychecks. Every time I go through arizona I see trucks pulled over on the shoulder getting harassed by the dot.
