I didn't say it was did I? Like it was said the truck and trailer allows you more product with good maneuverability. We have to go into some stations that were built along time ago when the trucks only hauled 5000 gallons and was 30 feet long. Now we have trucks that are 85 feet that go into the same places. I don't like to back into a drop so the truck and trailer allows me to go in straight. There's some turns where you have only 6 inches clearance but a semi would never make it.

Great stuff here guys - some great information and opinions.. Very informative..

Maybe one of the West Coast drivers here could shed some light on something for me..

I saw a type of converter dolly this morning that I had never seen before. It was an Atlas Van Lines affiliate based out of SoCal pulling a set low bottom pups. I didn't get a great look at it, but his dolly appeared to connect to his lead trailer in two places about 4 or 5 feet apart rather than one point in the middle. I was following him on a lumpy stretch of road where my back box tends to whip around and rock side to side a little and his set appeared much more stable than mine. I know it's not a great description but has anyone seen something similar to what I trying to describe??

I've seen what you're describing before I think. The app I'm thinking of was on a meat hauler A-train setup. Still has the "ordinary" pintle hook setup plus two "stabilizer" bars to reduce sway and such. You unhook the stabilizers for tight maneuvering.

    jakebrake12 Thanks this.

Well that certainly makes sense. Like I said, didn't get a great look at it but that has to be it. The first thing I noticed after he passed me was how stable the set pulled down the road - need me one of those..

    Thanks man - great info..

One thing to add here in michigan the gravel trains we run can make tight turns like the tanker guy said. But the kool part is there Mounted on a "table" and be locked strait fof backing. The unlocked to turn.

Just remembered.... the outfit I saw it on was leasing their equipment from Ryder. So you might pick up a set from their used equipment division.:biggrin_25525:

Lots of wasted time i could have dumped my pup and lead and hooked back up. Before the other one has dumped. Looks like part dump part roll off.
Have seen these units online but we don't use them here in michigan.
