I guess maybe I should chime in here - since I own a west coast trailer and so does @Heavy Hammer. People refer to them by all kind of different names - coffin or evener or yes even walking beam(although technically this is probably misleading).

Typically when I think about walking beam it is axle
Suspension between the front axle and rear axle in a 2 axle group.

So you all can argue all you want but it doesn't make any difference.

They are truckers, Ron. Of course they argue. :D
Most industries have things that are known by one name in one place, and another name elsewhere.

Chime in if you want, I pulled one for thousands of miles and hundreds of loads. I'm familiar with them in and out as well as working around much much bigger ones. I know of what I speak.

I know you do and I did not infer in any way you did not. I do however live out west and am familiar with what people refer to the trailers as...

So I am at least as qualified as you and regularly refer to the as west coast trailers

And yes you can scale a 336 on 6 or 7 axles ....

I never questioned your qualifications. How many years have you been doing this? I remember reading about you buying your first detach a few years ago.

To be more specific, the pic is a trunnion axle on a walking beam suspension. Well actually, we always called them 16 wheel setups around here but when I was researching about purchasing one of these trailers awhile back, I found that all the manufacturers call them trunnion axles.
