Rob Lowe is a good actor, but why would he read our threads? Is he doing a trucker movie? Doesn't fit his profile.....

Fact of the matter is, Prime didn't plan on their growth. They grew faster than expected. Olney, Shelbyville, new customers, etc. In addition to that, you have the issue with the Cummins / Pete fiasco, taking those trucks down left and right. So, you don't have enough trucks for your incoming drivers, then you have current drivers with trucks in the shop, trying to get a loaner.
All those trucks you see sitting on the south lot at the Prime terminal, are sale trucks. Well, most of them anyway. The idea of putting them back into the active fleet has been discussed, but won't be happening. -
I have a truck waiting for me when I get back off this recovery in a couple days.
-
How long did you have to wait to get one? Is it just the company guys that are waiting, or are the people leasing having to wait also?
-
It's really a crap shoot as to whether they will have enough trucks available for everyone who show's up on a given day. I don't think anyone is waiting for long periods at this point- at least that's the impression I'm getting when I've been at the yard recently. There seems to be a decent number of new vehicles rolling in, and it does depend on how quickly the maintenance folks can get to inspecting the new vehicles as well as detailing any that come in for reassignment.

Id like to know the answer to this too. Getting ready to come over in May but if there are no trucks to lease then maybe I need to delay that.
-
Lease and company are two different beasts when it comes to truck availability.
-
Not really, they are interchangeable. I can lease my company truck at any time and everyone of my previous company trucks were previously L/O trucks. For me to Lease I'd have to turn in the truck for company inspection and repairs then its given back to me and I do a Lease inspection and take financial responsibility as a L/O.
My first truck was leased brand new and turned back in after just 3 months. My current truck was leased by two separate individuals over two years and I am running out the last year as company driver.
Based on QC evidence one L/O had a medical emergency and another was drowning in a poor business based on a couple settlements that were missed by the detail shop in turnaround.
So, if your company and really like your truck you may call Leasing and find out how much is left on your truck before turn in. Run it L/O for the last couple moths while you order the truck you really want. -
At the moment... ( as of the beginning of march )
I went in for my upgrade. Decided to go straight to lease. I had a brand new 2014 cascadia two days after I finished my classes while company guys who finished their upgrade classes the week prior were still waiting...
