I'm running with a mirage 36 hp2 turned up to 48 watts with two 5' firesticks using factory coax on a 2017 680. CB shop in Fontana did the tune up. He told me the top load antennas work better on these new 680s. I'm not really satisfied with my receiving. Thinking of getting the Stryker sr 447 hpc2. I'm told the Stryker will swing to 70-80 watts turned up. Are you guys getting better results with the metal antennas? And isn't that stressing the factory mount? I've already had one firestick snap off at the stud in Oklahoma wind.

As I posted a while back, under thread " T680 cb mounting KW what have you done?" ( currently on page 6) I replaced stock antennas with two Firestick ll 4 footers and am currently still using them. Swr is 1.2, receive and transmit range is good ( stock 29 chrome or 980) and no undue stress on factory mounts from windy conditions, so far so good.

And I'm saying that the 27" shafts on the 10ks should be higher, not lower. Higher has been a constant in working better thus far. -
More than anything now is the noise floor. The factory coax + the metal antennas make for some excellent hiss. But even with the gain down a bit they work really good.Flacrkr Thanks this. -
