I'm running with a mirage 36 hp2 turned up to 48 watts with two 5' firesticks using factory coax on a 2017 680. CB shop in Fontana did the tune up. He told me the top load antennas work better on these new 680s. I'm not really satisfied with my receiving. Thinking of getting the Stryker sr 447 hpc2. I'm told the Stryker will swing to 70-80 watts turned up. Are you guys getting better results with the metal antennas? And isn't that stressing the factory mount? I've already had one firestick snap off at the stud in Oklahoma wind.

Told ya the 22" inch shaft length would work at the beginning of this thread. Supposedly with dual antennas you tune/set one antenna at a time.. I dunno haven't run or needed to run dual antennas for years

As I posted a while back, under thread " T680 cb mounting KW what have you done?" ( currently on page 6) I replaced stock antennas with two Firestick ll 4 footers and am currently still using them. Swr is 1.2, receive and transmit range is good ( stock 29 chrome or 980) and no undue stress on factory mounts from windy conditions, so far so good.

Sorry to be redundant, but I guess I posted same thing on thus thread. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and mine is going fast!

Not much difference between a radio with a carrier of 10 to 12 pep to 48 watts, and a radio with a carrier of 15 pep to 70 watts. Whether or not the receive is better on the Stryker I cant say for sure, but usually the receive on Ranger made radios is pretty good.

SWR isn't a problem now. I'm just looking for better better better :)

And I'm saying that the 27" shafts on the 10ks should be higher, not lower. Higher has been a constant in working better thus far.

The Predators 10ks I have weigh less than your Firestiks. They do not stress the mounts. And they do work a lot better than the Firestiks on this truck for me.

More than anything now is the noise floor. The factory coax + the metal antennas make for some excellent hiss. But even with the gain down a bit they work really good.

I had a 10k with 27" shaft on a Cascadia with mirror bracket mount and during windy conditions , since the shaft was not flexible , alot of stress was put on the antenna mount. The antenna was eventually stolen ( easy to do because of low mounting position) and because of that I refuse to run expensive antennas anymore. I did see a 680 the other day with two 10ks ( 27" shaft) and it was windy and they were moving back and forth pretty good, and also my white noise level is minimal on both radios ( 29 and 980 ) but the receive seems to be pretty good.
