Back when I started we had cassette decks and CD players. Phones were flip-style, diesel fuel was green. We didn't have APU's, people owned cb radios, and we ran log books made out of paper. When you mashed the throttle, actual black smoke would pour out. We would use atlases and maps to find places, and we liked it!!!!

Yep, back in the early 2000's, trucking was still good.

I started back in the late 80s before there was a CDL. I've been up and down Mont Eagle Many times without a jake and never once smoked the brakes, same thing can be said running Indy to LA. My first assigned truck was a T-600 Aerodyne (anteater) and it's a conventional not a cabover. Sounds like somebody doesn't know what they're talking about.

Before the CDL came along the old timer was right. I don't remember there being any driving schools. You just went to the local DMV and get the chauffer endorsement, and POOF you are a truckdriver! It was a.whole different thinking back then. And life style. This new breed don't realize how easy they have it!! I call it the sheep mentality. If you don't understand what I mean just watch a flock of sheep for a day, then you may understand.

ya its funny to listen to "old timers" talk about how it was back in the day, i dont think they realize they are the reason for so many regulations when they were trying to run coast to coast non stop, and if you didnt you were some sort if sissy lol im not for elogs and all that nonsense but if it keeps these maniacs off the road then so be it, i mean who wouldnt want their family out on the hwy with a super trucker who has been up for 3 days lol
