Guys with a CB had a green 'porch lite' (usually one of those cheap beehive lights with the right angle bracket) mounted on the left mirror so you knew when you saw a truck with a CB radio (at night).... this is pre-1973 stuff before the CB craze put a CB in every truck...

And how about the hand signals we used to use before CB's to communicate with drivers to let them know the coops were open, there was a smokey ahead or that you could "wind it up'..... and we used to give a little courtesy wave to every oncoming driver... I still do that but i usually just get blank stares back.

Thanx, Krooser! Some mighty fine looking vintage tin there. Couldn't help but notice the preponderance of Macks. Guess ya just can't keep an old Dog down!

my grandfather (who drove locally for 47 years) has told me stories about his brother (who drove OTR back in the day) sleeping in his daycab on a plank of wood resting on both seats...ive heard from both my grandfather and my father about the old 2 stick trucks

Yup Shenandoah had its good points--but unfortunately it was the parking lot shenanigans that did it in--but I do wish I WAS THERE the night it all came down--3 of my buds were--and they still alugh their #####* off about it--was quite a scene from what I've been told!:biggrin_25523:

Those were some nice trucks in those vidoes above, I am obsessed with the old iron, prolly wouldn't be any good with a twin stick though, but I sure would love to learn how to drive one. Have massive respect for the old school drivers...
