    Yup, you're following me correctly.

I'm not going to look down on new drivers, but don't expect me to respect you if you don't have a good head on your shoulders.

I still will help others when I can, If nothing else hang around till help arrives when I can. Help a diver get backed in or help with questions about their log book cuse they had a noob as a trainer and did not teach him anything. Helping has made me friends, and been helped by some who could have just as easy waved and go on by.

Remember down in Lerado Tx I was having a heck of a time getting under my assigned loaded trailer I was to high for the low low dropped trailer. Why i get mad when I see people bragging about leaving 2 or more inchs of the landing gear when they drop. What about the next guy whom may have High profile tires and not able to get under it. I asked 2 different river for assistance both refused, one did not lie his load was ready and he left hooked and departed. the other said same thing but was standing laughing pointing at me when I was leaving. But one driver who had already hooked up seen I was having a hard time, stopped dropped his trailer and helped me out. He even had a hard time getting under it with low profile tires. It was hitting the back of my frame. Respect and helping others is not fully gone but it sure not what it use to be. I did tell my dispatch if such Truck# needs help DO NOT CALL ME though. My dispatcher asked why and I told him and I went on to say I do not care if his truck was on fire, I let him sit in it and burn. But others I would risk my life to help but he would just have to burn to death.. Sorry do not get on my bad side. I may bring the marsh mellows to roast over ur burning body

Lol, that really made me laugh. Dad says that all the time with a big ole grin and chuckling while he says it.

Unfortunate son , thank you for a very well written response. I have about 400k miles under my belt, not trying to say I no it all by any means. Been in and around trucks all over since 2004. If it wasn't for you kind veterans that are willing to help I would have never got my license in 07 when I just couldn't take it any more running between scale houses with my old car hauler buddy. The first time he let me drive it went like this. Heading south on I 5 coming up on Gants Pass. He flips on the cruise, stands up steps over to the passenger side while still holding the wheel and says you better get in that seat. Wow I felt like a kid a candy store. He was old school all the way. 70 year old farm boy been driving tractor since he was 14.

It just seems that we will only continue to get worse without some starting point somewhere for what used to be common courtesy towards a fellow human being. Instead of just dwelling on the past about being a better time in those regards, it is something that we can actually change if we all could look at each other without discrimination. Unfortunately that would only be in a perfect world.

Hey there "Wanderingaimlessly"--Good to hear it. Thanks! I thought I had connected to Ghost Ryders "wave-length" on what he was trying to say...LOL.

And yes, there needs to be betterment. Yesterday's trucking was really a good thing and a good time in the industry. But today can be better (even if different) and it has to start with the vets and the newer drivers meeting in the middle. Also, (as with so many things) this is a generational thing as well. We've all heard our granddad say, "I just don't understand kids these days!" Well, it kinda falls along those lines, friend.

Whatever the case, glad that you are out there truckin' and that you are passionate enough about this profession to argue your points. We need fighters for the cause, but we need to make sure that we don't fight against each other. Differences of opinion is what makes the world go 'round.

Today, you won over a few more vets. That should make all of us proud!

I started in 1979 and am still driving! I remember that you used to NEVER have problems finding a parking place in a truck stop. Now, in a lot of cases if you aren't there by 6 or 7 you are out of luck! Getting to be a HUGE problem!
