I remember the time I was waltzing across Texas on 10 and I passed four bull haulers about 4 in the morning on the right side .
One of the hollered hey garbage hauler where ya going in such a hurry?
I told him he wanted to run with me they needed to stop dragging ### in the left lane and get to trucking.

He told me with a truck that fast I should haul bulls .
I told him I used to and the Texas Rail Road commission made stop .
He asked why that was .
I asked him he ever seen a chicken hauler going down the road with them chicken feathers flying all over .
Of course said he had and I told him well my truck is so fast that I was blowing the hides off them cows so they wouldn't let me pull them anymore!!! LMAO

Well you can just imagine how that lit them boys up !!! Man the next 200 miles just flew by with them trying to catch me and the B.S. flying !!!

I sure do miss them days when you could laugh and poke fun at one another with out all the hate and discontent .

Or going up to them old cabovers and shaking the hell out them and hollering Stop that truck he just ran over this truck and watching your buddy roll out ready to kill someone LMAO that never got old !!
Unless you were the buddy in the truck asleep LOL !!!

I could go on for hours . That is the real reason I still truck . Man the stories you have after a lifetime of trucking is just something you don't get working on an assembly line or in an office .

I was once in a convoy of trucks running nose to tail at 58 mph on the Ohio turnpike back in the split limit days. There was a bear every 10-20 miles so we decided to "behave" We were having a good time jib jabbing on the radio with each other. Must have been 20 or so trucks running together. This was around 1999.

    "Japanese Freightliner" aka "Road Commode"

The only time you'd ever see a Monfort Truck not moving it was taking on fuel in the TSA exit 13 I-80 in Brookville, PA.

Right lane was the Mclean Lane.

Everybody on the radio busting balls on JB Hunt Drivers..."He's backin up"

I-81 in Wytheville, VA went down to a stretch of 4 lane for about 10 miles.

I-40 still under construction over Black Mtn. NC, the town had an odd speed limit like 23mph or something like that.

Southern 500 Truck Stop on US 52 before you go up Fancy Gap

Wow, all great stuff......hearing about the Monfort Lane, Mclean lane, Rt 52 up to Fancy Gap, the convoys on the Oh Turnpike, etc. I recall being on the CB in 1973, Channel 10 back then for truckers, and someone swore, and was berated for it and told that this was a family channel, and to shut his mouth! Can you imagine that kind of disipline today.....and we wonder how far America has slipped...

Truckers decided to go to Channel 19, so that we could have our own, and everyone with a CB, (which was just about seemingly everyone back then,) came over with us.....

If you broke down, and called the company, you were told that they could not help you from there, so you had to get to a pay phone and start calling from the Yellow Pages.

We were in a 1969 Peterbuilt cabover with a 335 Cummins jacked up, coming out of Vegas in '73, running with a new Double Bunk Cabover KW with the then new iconic 425 Cat. He would just play with us, and finally left like we had stopped.

Taking showers in the most despicable places one has ever seen. Some were just a shower head in a rest room with a curtain, and hair every where.

Got a ticket in Delaware OH in the 45, (I was for only going about 48-50,) and the Officer took me to the Court House, and I had to wait until they opened to pay the fine. The Hyway Patrolman had just got a new car, and I think I was the lucky trucker who got to hear about it and even take a ride in it........Got a ticket in NJ on I-80 for 60 in a 55. A 4 wheeler was passing me, and I ask him why I got the ticket, and he stated that "he could not get everyone...."

Taking 1-2 hour naps on the doghouse of those cabovers, with my feet stuck in the sleeper, with my shoes off of course...
