Back in the hunt

Hello All,
My name is Terry, i live in the mountains of Virginia and have been driving for almost 5 years. I started with WSE right out of school but only lasted 3 months before I quit. They put me in an old truck with a sleeper so small I had to sleep with my bags in the bunk with me, and they wanted me to stay out 6 weeks at a time. After sitting at a terminal for 4 days waiting on maintnance and a small repair I quit. I know it sounds like I'm crying the blues, but for a first job in the industry it was a little to much. I took a job working for a local construction co. driving dump trucks and every now and then a day cab with a dump trailer. Due to family issues I had to quit at the end of June, took care of things and started driving school buses this fall, talk about a handful, kids today are just out of control. Well the bus thing is not covering the bills and I can't find anything local so I'm back looking to go OTR. I am researching several companys that are not going to require me to go back to school but i'm seeing horror stories about low miles/pay. Does anyone have any info on a good company?
