Why maintain safe following distance? Oh, no reason. This happened this week on Hwy 400, just outside Toronto, Ontario. Fully loaded tanker slammed into a stopped car hauler, second tanker hit him. This is the aftermath.
'Catastrophic' fatal pileup on Highway 400 may have been caused by 'inattentive' truck driver

I have to wonder if a medical issue played a part in that one though. It just doesn't make any sense that the driver could have been that distracted for that long in that location. It sounds like one of the loaded tankers was the one that didn't stop. He would have crested the hill just past hwy88 a bit on the slow side a few gears from the top hole. There's no way he should have missed the sea of brake lights as he started to get some speed back up.
Baffling, tragic and scary.Lepton1 Thanks this. -

I have found that sometimes the delete operation requires several applications. I think the server sometimes has a hard time with it.
I have been working on calming down some of my epic tomes being posted it's difficult. It's actually easier to not participate in discussions with the newer and unnecessarily complications in trucking when companies set one speed for the cruise and another for the foot. Come on now... I can type all day on something like that.
