After reading this, and others about working for JB Intermodal, it makes me want to crawl in a hole and die.
JB is desperate for drivers in every market, they've stretched themselves thin, Pro Driver and the other driver temp services won't give them drivers (or the drivers refuse to go to). They are losing O/O's and L/O's at a fast rate. Meanwhile, they offer massive $2,000 hiring bonuses and still can't get people. Talked to one of their drivers recently at the BNSF in Denver, he works 14 5 days a week, he's regularly being told how to cheat his elog so he can work a few "extra" hours. No thanks.
Interesting. The driver I talked to said they transferred him to Chicago for 5 mos because they didn't have enough drivers. He said it was a horrible experience and demanded to get back to the west coast LOL.
If you believe everything you read on this site or everything you hear about JB, I have some ocean front property in Arizona I'll sell you!
I know an O/O that spent 1 yr pulling for JB, he lost thousands. This is a driver who had been pulling intermodal, had his own authority, but operated under someone else's SCAC code. JB offered his a $4,500 sign on, he jumped at it because the other company was slow. Then the other shoe dropped, they made him operate under their authority, instead of his own, paid him as a lease driver instead of as a private contractor. Made him up his insurance, but rejected his insurance carrier and wanted him to use theirs, inspected his truck when they took him, found 3 defects, which they weren't defects, they just didn't meet JB's standards. At least 8 times in that year they shorted him on settlements, and in the end shorted him on his final settlement.
That's nothing new. A lot of companies do that. Friend drives for Groendyke hauling crude, he gets shifted around a lot. Year ago he spent 3 months in New Mexico cause they were shorthanded, then they moved him to W. Texas for a month. After he got home to Denver, they had him run a van trailer shutting parts between Denver and Minnesota. They paid him extra for it. He hates it, but they give him a nice bump to offset the PITA portion.
I’m surprised it’s the same bulb. On the Volvo it was a 55watt low beam, a 65 watt high beam. Sure enough, both on yours are H11.
I really would never drive for JB Hunt, HOWEVER, I have a very good friend who's been driving for them here in Chicago (Intermodal) for about 4 years. He loves it, he starts around 3:00AM and is home almost always by 2:30 pm. He gets to pick his kids up from school most days. and he grosses $1,500 to $1,700 pretty consistently. He has health insurance for the fam (not the best, but serviceable), paid vacation and a 401K..... I used to tell him he really lucked out with his dispatcher and load planner, but both have changed in the last 4 years...so,.... Again, this is one guy, out of there Kenosha yard, running around Chicago....but he's quite happy and, according to him, so are several others..... Take it for what it's worth....
