I actully just looked up my 3500s value. Its apparently selling for what i paid for it 5 years ago and thats before considering the HUGE list of upgrades that likely push the value well over what i paid. The market is nuts.
I dunno if you will ever get the money out of one that you sink into it. I'd have to see that to believe it. Along with anyone willing to pay me $28,500 for mine right now. It has a 6 speed manual with a gear vendors auxiliary overdrive and I put dynalock manual lockout hubs on the front axle too. It's only ever had a mild hp tuner so it hasn't been thrashed and trashed like most of them have.
Mine is nearly new and looks factory floor new. Only has 68k miles. So its super low miles and has a full maintaince history. I know the dealer offered me $65K on the spot when i took it in to get a part. So i MIGHT get it with the right buyer. Especially with how many aftermarket parts it has on it.
2019 T680 with a paccar was down in Denver with a bad NOX sensor. 5 trucks at that dealership in front of it waiting too. We finally found one in OKLAHOMA CITY and had it overnighted. Our local dealer has 11 stores and didn’t have any for us. Truck was down for 10 days.
Found a 1st gen 4x4 manual Cummins with a claimed 50k-ish original kilometers in the local classifieds. Let's just say they were asking a couple grand less than what it retailed for when new IF you adjusted for inflation to 2021. About twice as much as I'd be willing to pay for it.
Someone will buy it The first gen 4wd with a real transmission instead of the slush box , in good condition will easily bring more that it cost new adjusted for inflation.
If the stealership offered you that , then it’s worth quite a bit more , since they were just looking for a quick flip fat profit .
Oh i know. But im not willing to sell my ram unless someone offers my 6 figures for it. Im rather attached to it. Moreso considering it is the last of the pre def models. Looking at a few auto traders the only ones i can find with simular factory specs are all selling for around 50-60K and ALL of the ones up for sale have 130k+ miles. My guess is i could easily get 75-85K if i really wanted to sell. Perhaps more for the right buyer. But my minimum sale price is $150K because ill never find another one like mine.
I know somebody will pay it. I'm definitely not that somebody. If I wanted a Cummins I could stuff one into a Chevy and have a real truck for a fraction of the price lol.
I'm in the market for a truck. Will order new. That way I know what I got and it'll be cheaper. Just have to wait 6 months for it to arrive. It makes absolutely zero sense to buy used.
