Hey Smoken. How long is the training exactly and what sort of states did you go to? I'm slated to start with Swift next week but Navajo still have their offer on the table. I'd just have to fly out of Portland to Denver.
-
Dude don't go with swift, for the love of god those people are crooks. They practically robbed Mt brother...
Anyway, th training is..
Phase one ( if you have little to no experience besides cdl school): 7 weeks
Phase 2 (2-4 months exp): 3-5 weeks
Phase 3 (4-6 months exp): 2 weeks
OTR drivers out 3 weeks home 3 days.
Western 11 regional: 2 weeks 2 days (that's what I'm on) and you run Montana, Washington, Cali, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming and oregon.. so I would recommend that for you.
Pay is drivers just comin on start at salary $110 dollars daily (salary)
After 6 months $120 dollars daily (salary as well)
1 year .35 a mile
Hope you come join us over here at the blue eyed indian my friend..

Thanks Smoken for the details! More I hear about Swift I do wonder. How does the mentor thing work? Always in the passenger seat? Wonder if they would let me take the truck home or park someplace?Smoken0221 Thanks this.

When you're with a trainer, that truck operates as a solo truck. And you get most of the seat time for sure. Probably 85% I'd say, they make #### sure you know what you're doing. Real good trainers here. There's a guy by the name rob clark who's been with navajo 15 plus years and he is a hell of a trainer, I'd highly recommend him, real good dude too.
As for taking your truck home once you get one they'll get you as close to the house as they can, most likely gonna be a kenworth dealer. As for me, I'm out of amarillo tx so when I take home time I'll use the central freightlines terminal, (I guess we have a good relationship with them or something idk). But it all depends but they'll definitely get you within at least 20 miles of your house. But they don't let you physically park the rig in your driveway.MidwestResident, T_Bone and Lightside Thank this. -
Hey Smoken how goes the haul? I thought their Boise Idaho terminal was closed?
-
Boise's still active. Cargo Express is no more, although the remaining Cargo Express trucks still bear their livery.
Lightside Thanks this. -
I will call tomorrow and ask if they offer training in Boise. If not will go with the Denver offer. From what you guys (and Chinatown) have said about Navajo, seems like a cool outfit. Sure they will let me take the truck near home. Kinda wanted to work out in the midwest and avoid like the plague the states of Washington and California.Last edited: Aug 25, 2015
