So it's final, you are done. STAY FRIGGING HOME!!! This is what a higher power is trying to tell you! If you want a driving job then go deliver pizza's. $6000 to learn to deliver pizza's! Well I gotta say, you gave it a shot(well technically you have it three shots) and I have to hand it to you, you #### sure didn't give up or go down without a fight! Now if you could just put all that drive into something you know how to do then you will be successful. Maybe Realty school or something. Whatever it be good luck on your next endeavor.
Don't forget, it is your duty as the driver on duty at that time to refuse to drive when you are in danger of becoming fatigued. You never know, it could have been a test. I doubt it since it is a test I would give someone and I doubt USA Truck trainers think that complex. At the very least, the trainer should have split the driving time to get to see how well you do in a new truck. Good luck with whatever you decide.
At USA Truck, Phase 1 is only 2 weeks. I had 2 weeks and 2 days. The trainer did not decide I was finished, the training liason did. My trainer asked for me to go back to phase 1. He did ride with me a few hours at the beginning and when I was still awake, I drove fine. He wanted my shifting to be smoother, but that comes with time.
What happened with Covenant? Seems to me that was a rediculous reason to send you home. "I'm not comfortable with sleeping while he's driving". Ok then..... STAY AWAKE!!! I don't know... if you aren't already home, could you possibly talk to the training folks about the details?
The examiner at Covenant claims I hit a curb during the road test and failed me. I didn't think I did, but she said I did. I'm already home. The training liason claims that she talked to safety and because I was not maintaining lane control, I had to go. Once again though, when you are exhausted, how do you stay on the road?!?
You DONT. Eyes get heavy = find a truck stop or rest area ASAP!! There is NO LOAD worth your life or the life of any other motorist.... PERIOD. I've been put on loads with absolutely illegal schedules. I have made it crystal clear that I will NOT be delivering at the due time. If they had a problem with that, give the load to someone else. I have told dispatchers "you don't ask ME to break the law and I wont ask YOU to break the law. Fair enough?"
Geez. Maybe it's time to find a smaller company or a mom&pop? Seems like you just keep running into bad circumstances or something, but if you really want to drive, don't give up. Your first 2-5 months are going to be the most difficult of your driving career, no matter how long or short it is.
You don't you pull into a rest are ortruck stop and sleep. Central doesn't allow trainees to drive past 5am for the first two weeks, because most trainees are not used to driving all night. My trainer didn't sleep while I was driving for almost three weeks.. I have to ask didn't that 6k school you went to do any night driving or was that extra too?
